Intellectual property strategies are extremely important in the semiconductor industry, which is compelled to constantly introduce the most up-to-date technology and makes massive investments in R&D. We recognize that there is a need to develop protections for intellectual rights with the aim of promoting new technological development by protecting first-mover advantages.
From that perspective above, the first IP Task Force meeting was held on Feb. 18th, 2004 prior to JSTC in Shanghai. At this meeting, the white paper regarding IP of layout design was drafted and proposed to the WSC:
WSC Policy Proposal Regarding Layout Design Intellectual Property
IP Task Force activities are as follows:
- Promote protection of layout design
- Develop general policy proposals on Anti-counterfeits
- Study measures for protections of other technology assets.
The Task Force includes active participation of all WSC members.
